Provide Insight to your Leadership Style
Instructions
For this assignment, you will prepare a brief video. You may use the Video Note tool in NCUOne or other software of your choosing.
Create and upload a video in which you introduce yourself and discuss your leadership role (if applicable) and your leadership style.
Describe your leadership style from completing the assessment in this week’s resources.
Explain your previous leadership roles and skills (both personally and professionally), if applicable.
Describe an individual who might serve as an inspiration for you in a future leadership role. How does this person operate day to day in a human services leadership role?
Evaluate what style of leadership seems to be a good fit for you as you prepare for a leadership role in social work, and explain why.
Explain how you will use the NASW Code of Ethics as a model for your leadership style in human services.
To create a Video Note, select the Record video option in the assignment submission area. You will need your webcam to complete this video. Press the New Recording button when you are ready to record your video note and the Stop Recording when finished. Click the Add button to include the video in your assignment submission. Examine Emotional Intelligence for Effective Leadership
Instructions
Consider what it means to be emotionally intelligent. As you learned from this week’s resources, emotional intelligence is your ability to recognize your feelings along with others’ emotions. In leadership, emotional intelligence is used to manage your emotions while motivating your staff and employees. No one will have all of the traits of being a good leader, so it is important to recognize those traits you must develop in yourself. In this assignment, you will connect emotional intelligence to good leadership skills.
Begin by reviewing this week’s resources again and completing the emotional intelligence self-assessment.
Then, write a self-assessment to address the following:
Describe your personal traits that will help you as an effective leader. Provide missing traits that may hamper your performance as a leader.
Indicate whether you agree with the findings of the emotional intelligence assessment and explain why.

For this assignment, you will apply the two leadership theories discussed this week to a human services organization of your choice.
This can be the same agency as the one that will be the focus of your Signature Assignment. Assume you have been asked to present during a training meeting for newly appointed leaders of this agency.
First, briefly describe the social service agency[1] with which you are familiar. Be sure to include the mission and goals of the agency, the population(s) it serves, and the organizational structure of the agency.
Apply either the path-goal or leader-member exchange theory to the agency. Determine which approach you think best describes how the agency is managed and explain why.
Explain whether this approach results in the best outcomes for the clients served. Recommend best practices to ensure ethical standards are upheld during client service delivery.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide.
