NASW Code of Ethics Paper
Each student will read the NASW Code of Ethics and write a 3-5 page paper, APA format, addressing the following questions:
Why is the NASW Code of Ethics crucial for social work practice
Why is the NASW Code of Ethics relevant to the individual served (clients, patients, etc)
What are 2 of YOUR core values? How are these values pertinent to social work core values?
- Explain 2 ethical standards listed in the NASW Code of Ethics and how you will address them if they emerge professionally.
- Professional Interview Paper: Each student is required to interview one human services professional (HSP) (i.e., LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LFMT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor), HS-BCP (Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner), LBSW) (Licensed Bachelor Social Worker) and submit a MINIMUM 3 page typed summary of the interview. This interview is to be completed via telephone, virtual platform, or in-person. Interviews completed via email will not be accepted. Must follow APA format (6th edition) and must be written from a third-person point of view.

What is the primary goal of services provided
What wisdom would you offer a new social service provider
Discuss ethical concerns you have experienced in your professional history (minimum of 2)
Agency Referral Paper: Each student is to complete a survey of 10 different social services agencies in the community. These agencies include those focusing on children and adolescents, formerly incarcerated, elderly, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, basic needs (i.e., food/shelter/employment), and medical services. You are to visit, call, email, or search their website to obtain the information needed. Responses such as “Information not listed on their website” will not be accepted. If you are unable to obtain ALL of the listed questions, do not use that agency for this assignment… ALL QUESTIONS MUST HAVE AN ANSWER Each agency should be at least one page in length, meaning, this paper will be NO LESS THAN 10 PAGES

- Describe all services and programs provided… do not just say outpatient or residential…. Tell me about the programs.. what do they offer, why are they beneficial to clients, what are the expectations and qualifications for being in the program… many agencies offer multiple programs, explain each of them as though I have no knowledge of what they are.
- Are there fees? What if a client cannot meet the fee?
- Why is this agency important to the community?
